What are your play-times?
We are happy to provide our musical services at a time that best suits your event. However, we have found that our service is most effective during your drinks reception, wedding ceremony, and/or your meal. The vintage music creates a charming backdrop as you and your guests mingle, enhancing the atmosphere without clashing with your evening entertainment. Some couples opt to book the musical service for both the wedding ceremony and the drinks reception, or the drinks reception and the meal, providing musical continuity for the event. This works especially well if the ceremony is held in the same venue as the drinks reception.
What is the "drinks reception"?
A drinks reception, also known as the pre-dinner reception, is a period after the wedding ceremony where guests enjoy drinks and light refreshments. The drinks reception ends when guests are seated for speeches and the "meal". Typically, a drinks reception lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
Where are you based and how far do you travel?
The majority of our scheduled events are held in the central belt of Scotland, stretching from Ayrshire to Edinburgh. If you're interested in hosting an event outside of these areas, please don't hesitate to reach out. We’ll be happy to discuss your needs and see if we can accommodate you.
How many Vintage Wedding staff members attend an event?
A single member of staff will attend your event. The member of staff will operate all of the vintage-themed equipment at our Vintage Table.
How much floor space do you require?
We don't require a large area to operate. Our equipment is conveniently arranged on a single table that we provide. We are more than happy to set up anywhere within your chosen venue and will seamlessly adapt to your specific needs.
Do you play outdoors?
We are more than happy to play outdoors if the weather is due to remain dry throughout the entire set. If rain is forecast at any point during our set we will be unable to set up outdoors unless there is an overhang or shelter for us to use.
How loud is the music?
We strive to create the perfect ambiance for your event with carefully selected background music. Our volume is set to allow your guests to chat and mingle comfortably. If you'd like the volume adjusted, please feel free to let our gramophone operator know, and we will gladly accommodate your request.
What type of music do you play?
Our playlist features music from the early 1900s to the late 1940s, showcasing a diverse range of genres. Among our most popular selections, you'll find vibrant jazz, lively swing, soulful blues, and energetic big band music. Some of our tracks are purely instrumental, while others include enchanting vocal performances. While we specialise in vintage music, our high-quality equipment also allows us to seamlessly play modern songs if requested, ensuring a fully tailored and memorable musical experience for your celebration.
Do I need to provide anything?
All we need is a small space to set up and easy access to a single power outlet for our equipment.
How long do you take to setup?
We can set up our Vintage Table and all of our equipment in about 20 minutes However, if the venue permits, we always strive to access the room early to ensure everything is ready well before our services begin.
How long do you play for?
The length of your wedding ceremony/drinks reception/meal will determine the duration of our set. We have an extensive repertoire available to suit any event and we can customise our playlist at short notice if required.
What are your fees?
Our fees vary based on the duration of our set. We offer the option of services during your wedding ceremony, drinks reception and/or your meal. Please email us the details of your event, and we will provide you with a customised quote.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we require a small deposit to secure your booking date. Your date cannot be guaranteed without a deposit.
When do you take final payment?
The final payment is due on the day of your event and can be paid at the beginning of the music set. Your deposit will be applied toward this total, so you will only need to pay the remaining balance. If you prefer to pay the outstanding balance in advance, contact us and we can make arrangements to accommodate this.
